A CHAPTER. A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS.

Photosynthesis: two connected stages

The light-dependent reactions take place in the thylakoid membranes. They capture light energy to produce ATP and NADPH.

In the stroma, the Calvin cycle uses ATP and NADPH to fix carbon dioxide into organic molecules. Its product, G3P, can be used to build sugars.

Three flashcards from the excerpt

One idea.
One question.

Think of your answer, then open each card to check it.

CARD 1 · REVEAL ANSWERWhere do the light-dependent reactions occur?

In the thylakoid membranes of the chloroplast.

CARD 2 · REVEAL ANSWERWhat do the light-dependent reactions produce for the Calvin cycle?

ATP and NADPH, which provide energy and reducing power.

CARD 3 · REVEAL ANSWERWhat does the Calvin cycle use carbon dioxide to build?

It fixes carbon into organic molecules, producing G3P that can be used to make sugars.

These sample cards illustrate the format. Your flashcards depend on the PDF and instructions you give Dolphin.

LESS COPYING. MORE RECALLING.

Keep your course material at the center.

1. Add a readable PDF

Sign in to Dolphin and attach your notes or handout to a chat. Tell Pip which section you are studying.

2. Ask for focused cards

Choose definitions, comparisons, or concepts. Ask for one idea per card so each question has a clear purpose.

3. Check and refine

Compare the cards with your PDF. Ask follow-up questions about gaps, and revise cards that need more context.

NOT SURE WHAT TO ASK?

Start with this.

Copy this prompt, open Dolphin, and add your course materials.

Create flashcards from this PDF. Focus on the key concepts and terms, with one clear question per card and a concise answer. Use the document as the source, flag unclear passages, and include a mix of definitions and comparisons.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

PDF flashcard questions, answered.

How do I turn a PDF into flashcards?

Open Dolphin, sign in, and attach your PDF to a study conversation. Ask Pip to make flashcards from the material. Name the chapters or concepts you want to cover, then review the cards against your source.

What kind of PDF should I use?

Start with a readable lecture handout, course notes, or a chapter you have permission to use. Clear text gives Dolphin useful context. If a page is scanned, blurry, or mostly diagrams, check what Dolphin understood and paste any missing text into the conversation.

Can I choose what goes on the cards?

Yes. Ask for definitions, comparisons, formulas, or short explanations. Focus each card on one idea, and tell Pip which sections to include or leave out.

Do I need an account to upload a PDF?

Yes. Sign in to upload documents and save your study materials in Dolphin. The example on this page is available without signing in.

How should I review AI-generated flashcards?

Try answering before revealing the explanation. Check the answer against your PDF, correct missing context, and ask Pip to reword any card that is ambiguous. AI can make mistakes, especially with complex formatting or notation.
